For future camel owner – Welfare, medical fundamentals, behaviour of the camels / ethology, communications of the animals themselves and with people, integrating people into the camel herd, cleaning, leashes, saddling, riding, legs, hobbling, and loading.

Mit der österreichischen Kamelexpertin auf Tour
Abenteuerlustige finden Spaß und Abwechslung bei den geführten Karawanen von Gerda Gassner und ihrem Team. Auf Wunsch auch in Begleitung von Reitpferden und Ponys. Die mehrstündigen Kamel-Wanderungen oder mehrtägige Trekking Touren auf ausgeklügelten Routen werden mit der Spezialistin zu einer unvergesslichen Zeit.

Das besondere daran
Karawanen oder Kamel-Touren – der Schwerpunkt liegt in der besonderen Art der Fortbewegung: die Reise findet mit den Tieren statt, entweder zu Fuß oder auf den Kamelen reitend. Die Wanderung mit den Kamelen ist die ursprünglichste ihrer Art. Die landschaftliche Vielfalt und Schönheit, lassen sich kaum intensiver erleben.
Man versteht eine Landschaft am besten, wenn man sie sich erläuft
doch wer „Natur pur” im Sinne des Wortes „hautnah” erleben möchte, der muss bei den gewünschten Aktivitäten auch mal den Eigensinn des ein- oder anderen Kamels in Kauf nehmen. Jedoch, und ihr werdet es sehen und erleben: durch ihren unverwechselbaren „Charme“ können uns die gutmütigen Tiere immer aufs Neue bestechen!

Das Know-how der Expertin
das Reiten im Schritt ist gemütlich und entspannend. Die Sitzposition ist allerdings gewöhnungsbedürf-tig. Daher verspüren Neulinge bereits nach kurzer Zeit ein Ziehen in Muskeln, von denen sie bis dahin gar nicht wussten, dass sie sie besitzen. Ein gutes Maß an Trainingsstunden sind notwendig bevor man auf die Reise geht, meint die Expertin.

Healing for body and soul – contact with the animals in nature leads to new kinds of successful experiences which can be of great importance in the process of rehabilitation, therapy or life crises.
Warmth, affection and closeness – touch and body contact with the animal, as well as being a free gift, enables people to experience closeness, tenderness and warmth.
Promoting awareness – compared with horses, camels offer other qualities in terms of body awareness and movement impulses.
Psychosocial effects, empathy and reflection of own behaviour – while meeting with, feeding, observing, touching and caring for the animals social connections are made and co-operation and communication are promoted within the group and with the animals.

Kluge und neugierige Tiere

vor allem Kinder, aber auch Menschen mit besonderen Bedürfnissen können vom Umgang mit den Tieren in der Ersten österreichischen Kamelreitschule sehr profitieren.

Tiere kommunizieren unmittelbar und direkt, sie nehmen das Kind bzw. die Person so an wie es ist, zeigen ihm aber bei falschem Verhalten ihre Grenzen.

Reiten auf Dromedaren und Trampeltieren
diese Art von Grenzen setzen, durch ein Lebewesen in Form eines Tieres, ist für Kinder oft leichter annehmbar als die Grenzen, die ihm in seinem bisherigen Leben leider manchmal von anderen Menschen gesetzt wurden – oft unterschwellig und unbewusst, verbunden mit Kritik und Ablehnung.
Das Tier hingegen bewertet Fehlverhalten nicht, sondern zeigt oft unmittelbar positive Reaktionen.

Aussergewöhnlich und einzigartig
der Aspekt, dass Tiere eine Art des Lehrens in sehr positivem Sinne bewirken können, ist die beste Methode für ein Kind, von selbst zu lernen, dass es auf ein anderes Wesen auch eingehen muss und es nicht beherrschen kann, sondern dadurch genau das Gegenteil bewirkt. Dies zu lernen und auch anzunehmen stärkt das Sozialvermögen, bewirkt ein Öffnen und nimmt Aggressionspotenzial.

Das erste Mal auf den Rücken eines Kamels – man ist aufgeregt und begeistert. Die Kamel-Reitstunde ist daher immer viel zu schnell um.

At the “First Austrian Camel Riding School” is the camel expert and owner of the traditional factory “Rudolf Gassner & Sons” (rubber band and leather belt production). Along with her husband Werner, they give their knowledge and “camel fever” to interested parties.
Passion and fascination for “desert ships”
Patience, endurance, and persistence are the incredible qualities of camels themselves and in times of dire need they raise the strength to overcome great difficulties. These characteristics have fascinated and motivated Gerda Gassner, entrepreneur since childhood, into establishing the “First Austrian camel riding school”
First camel contact
Gerda’s first contact with camels was in 1978 in Egypt. These fascinating animals have accompanied her life since then. Azza was the first camel which found its home in Eitental in December 1978; some months later – in May 1979 – Azza’s son Bassam was born. Today there are ponies, camelids and horses and on their property.
